7.3 " An Innovative Multiple-valued Asynchronous Approach to System Design ",F.Pessolano , R. Mariani and R. Saletti - School of CISM - CCSV South Bank University 103 Borough Road, London SE1 0AA, UK
Abstract: In this paper the Event-oriented
Logic, an innovative approach to system design, is presented. It is proposed
for the first time to give to both signal levels and signal transitions
a logical meaning, so that the information content per wire is increased
as in multiple-valued logic. The new technique is applied to asynchronous
systems and possible handshake models have been studied. One of these models
is described and simulated in comparison to an asynchronous four-phase
micropipeline approach. The comparison demonstrates the feasibility of
Event-oriented logic with at least the same performance of standard approaches
and reduced interconnections overhead.
