at FPL96 in Darmstadt, Germany.

Doc. Ing. Michal Servit, CSc.

Data of Dr. Servit :

born:             17.12.1944 in  Prague
deceased:     05.12.1997

degrees:       Electrical Engineer: 1966
                      PhD: 1987

employment:
66-69: Research Inst. for Telecommunications, Prague
69-72: University of Agriculture, Prague
72-97: CVUT, engineer in the Computing Center, then asssistant
            professor, since 1991 associate professor.

The fact that he took his PhD only after 21 years from graduation was due to political repression. He was banned from post graduate study because of political attitude of his father (formerly director of one of the Institutes of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences).

Research Interests:
CAD in electronics, VLSI design, graph theory, automata theory, heuristic algorithms, combinatorial optimization.

Professional activities:
Member of the Scientific Council, Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Correspondent of EUROMICRO Board. Member of IEEE. Member of IEEE Computer Society. Deputy Head of IEEE Czechoslovakia Section. General Chairman and Program Committee Member of the 4th International Workshop on Field Programmable Logic and Applications, Prague 1994. Program Committee Chairman of the 2nd Workshop on Design Methodologies for Microelectronics and Signal Processing, 1995. Organiszng Chair of Summer School on Standaeds in Design Automation of Electronic Systems, prague, 1996.
